Shaman...Mandaza August 2011
The heat of the sun has left a lingering warmth in my office. It is just after 9 P.M. There is a stirring within me to write about my experiences with the Shaman, Mandaza. This was a rare occasion to meet such a gentle spirit of Peace. His voice is soft and has a melody that caused me to feel quiet and to listen will all my ears.
It was an honour to sit and dine with this man who cherishes the Creator and all of Creation. An entire weekend devoted to sharing and to learning. To experience the talking, the listening, the Teachings and especially the laughter.
Our circles were relaxed and open. Mandaza presented questions for us to consider and to answer. He spoke of his Divine Helpers. The energies of all our Helpers were felt in the circle. Some of their Presence was so strong that many witnessed etheric forms. Dreams are of a particular interest to Mandaza.
One such Teaching regarding dreams is this…that once a dream is shared, it now belongs to all who have heard it. The individuals who feel moved to give an interpretation, use the words “in our dream…” and “this is what happened to me or to us…”
Reflection on my gift of dream interpretation, allowed me to realize that, indeed, I was already speaking this way. The confirmation felt nurturing to my spirit and the participation felt safe and natural.
Mandaza guided us through a meditation. In my meditation, there was tree including the roots below the Earth’s surface. A light so bright above and behind the tree caused the leaves to luminous.
In the meditation, I was taken into the roots and teachings received about the importance of darkness. We begin in darkness and break through into the light. The roots each are a part of our past our history. The good and the terrible events are in the roots and one is not more important than the other.
Then, I was moved through the trunk up to the branches. Here, more teachings were given. This is the tree of Life. Each branch has an importance a meaning. Each desires to grow and expand. We are multifaceted. There are many aspects to us. One is not more important than the other.
The Teaching is that the Tree of Life shows many individual pieces below and above the ground. Yet, it is One. We are varied in our Self. Yet, we are One. There are many parts of Creation. Yet, we are One.
The next day at the water ceremony in the park, I shared what was given to me in the meditation. That evening, Mandaza showed me a tree he had drawn from one of his recent meditations. They matched. The Oneness was once again proven to be a Truth.
I encourage you to visit the internet and seek Mandaza. You Tube has a number of presentations. Mandaza is also raising money to provide for the 30+ orphans he and his wife have taken into their home and call their children. The children have survived their parents who have gone back to Creator because of Aids.
This man not only speaks of Peace, Love and Respect. This man also lives the Teachings of Peace and Love and Respect.

For all that you give, may you continuously receive more. Thank you Mandaza for being You.

Doreen,
I was sooo nice to talk with you and connect with you, soul to soul again. I feel so good that we've connected again. I just want you to know that I value our friendship.
By the way some validation for you..you said to get rid of Dave that he was bad news. Well apparently he has decided to not have a relationship anymore without even a goodbye!!
Interesting actions from a guy who said "I'm not going anywhere and I'm sticking with this". Such immaturity in handle a relationship astounds me.
On the other hand Your counsel and my instincts were correct. I'm more angry that he didn't have the balls to deal with the situation with maturity. I'm going to take a break from all of the male testosterone and just be good to myself.
Love your friendship and counsel dearly,
Donna
In the line of fire…
Tuesday, March 8, 2011 by Doreen South
Light grey plumes billow into the clear blue afternoon sky. Definitely, a sign of large fire. In the air, for those with an acute sense of smell, is a hot industrial order. There is energy of urgency filtering into the canopy over Cornwall.
Instinct drives me to find the source of these rapidly darkening stacks of smoke. A narrow snow filled road off Sydney north is closed off blocked off. Like an automatic pilot, my car travel around to the east where Sydney and Thirteen meet.
Another sharp curve to the south and I am met by a parade of parked cars. People sit watching with every darkening smoke. I am stopped and asked if I know where the fire, what building, is everyone safe? Perhaps it is the professional looking camera that gives me the air of having these answers.
With greater effort, my car now circles west on Eleventh. The narrow lane to the building is congested with cars that have been temporarily abandoned by drivers. Another long drive around the same route. Eleventh is now blocked off and traffic is being redirected. With respectful obedience, I park on a nearby side street and move forward on foot the congested lane. A friend, Janice, accompanies me.
We are met by a female police officer. We are asked to move our car. She was intense but polite. Once she realized we were pedestrians, Janice received a pat on the back along with the words, "I love you for that!” Along the walk toward the building, I hear the voices from communication devices. Head of me are more police personnel and fire personnel in full gear.
A bright yellow ribbon of tape sends a definite message to stop here. Blooms of new smoke are pushing through more of the building. Already in place is what appears to be a stationary hose. The velocity of water focused on an area of the building with intention to save it. There is a very heavy noise behind us. A front loader is barreling down to clear the massive snow bank that is a barrier to the anxiously waiting fire truck.
Within moments, the snow is pushed aside. More action, movements like a finely tuned orchestra. Everyone knows their part and is moving together with precision. The fire hose is hooked up to a hydrant at the corner of Eleventh and the little side street where my car waits quietly. A voice shouts that the hose is ready. Looking down, I watch to see the hose expanding with the pressure of hope to save this building.
There are few people watching. I catch bits of conversation that it is a 17 unit apartment building. Also, everyone made it out. It is suspected that an electrical problem was the cause of the fire. That is the general assumption. What I do know is what I witnessed.
Our police and fire workers are skilled and I see that they are there in spite of danger. I watched these good people put themselves in the line of fire to save lives.
Artful Music…
Sunday, March 6, 2011
A small eclectic group of people are gathered in a studio off in the sugar bush. They possess various degrees of artistic talent. Some are schooled in the various mediums of art. Others consider themselves with any developed artistic talent. A perfect blend for what is about to unfold.
Crystal singing bowls, chimes, drums, gongs and the artist who plays them is quietly poised. The facilitator, a distinguished and refined artist and teacher, Gerald Swift, speaks softly to the group. He is gently transporting them through meditation into the awakening of the inner child…Children who have fun. Children who accept beauty and experience joy in all that they do.
Quiet faces, bodies sway slightly and breathing becomes rhythmic. Within a short time, our eyes open and we feel excited. We hover over our large blank paper. There are crayons, a paint brush and a paint tray at each station. We are young again. We want to begin.
The music artist, Jody Marsolais, creates ethereal sounds. We become unaware of the person next to us and across from us. We are channeling the music in a way that causes our hands to move with intention. Images forming with an ease that causes the experience of art to be natural in every sense.
Gerald walks quietly amongst us asking questions to promote more creativity. He assists gently and effectively those who look to him for some direction. Each painting, each masterpiece unfolds from the inner child. Every picture is unique and colorful. A perfect expression of the individual. Individually an expression of the gleeful child who painted it.
We are called to focus now on reflection…to share our experience with Gerald and Jody. One by one, voices share their journey. Our inner child is wishes to return to this place of freedom. We want to return. We ask to be invited back to a new experience of artful music.
